DFCCIL officials stress that construction and operational challenges will be cleared on priority with government support.
Key officials at the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) have reaffirmed their commitment to accelerate construction and address gaps in the development of Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals (GCTs), prioritising improved logistics and transportation for industries, exporters, and traders.
At a specially convened review meeting at DFCCILâs Noida headquarters on December 17, officials emphasised the early commissioning of key terminals at proposed new stations. Directions were also issued to commence operations at ready terminals without delay, ensuring seamless freight movement from ports to major industrial regions, a DFCCIL statement said.
Developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, GCTs aim to provide direct rail connectivity with ports, industrial clusters, and markets along the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors. This integration is expected to deliver faster, safer, and more costâeffective freight transportation while strengthening initiatives such as Make in India and the Export Hub vision.
Chairing the meeting, DFCCIL officials highlighted that commissioning these terminals would strengthen multimodal integration among rail, road, and other transport modes, significantly reducing logistics costs and transit times, thereby boosting domestic trade and exports. They reiterated that any technical, administrative, or landârelated issues arising during construction or operations would be resolved on priority through close coordination with state governments and central agencies.
The meeting was convened by SP Verma, General Group Manager, Business Development & Business Analytics, and jointly chaired by Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director, Operations & Business Development, and Anurag Sharma, Director, Infrastructure.
Participants included terminal developers, logistics operators, and related institutions. Inâperson attendees comprised Venkateshwar Logistics, Central Warehousing Corporation, Savra Infra LLP, DP World, CONCOR, and Sawariya Shakti. Representatives from Globecoast, Shriyam, SKN Freight Terminals, Emirates Logistics, Emirates Terminals Pvt. Ltd., Timba PFT Pvt. Ltd., JSW Infrastructure, Inland Waterways Authority of India, and Joravasan Infra Pvt. Ltd. joined via video conferencing. CGMs and senior officers from DFCCILâs unit offices at Noida, Jaipur, Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Ambala, as well as from the Operations Control Centres, also participated virtually.
