In order to deploy smart electricity metres in 130 towns and adjacent rural areas covering 1.8 million consumers in the state, Energy Efficiency Services (EESL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North Bihar Power Distribution (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution (SBPDCL). Installation of smart metres will reduce AT&C losses, improve the financial health of power distribution companies (DISCOMs), enhance ease of bill payments and ensure billing accuracy by getting rid of manual errors in metre reading.
