The Eastern Railway (ER) has successfully commissioned a modern Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system at Barddhaman in West Bengal, replacing the 50-year-old liver frame signalling system. Work for commissioning the RRI started on 14 August and was completed by 17 August. The commissioning of the RRI will lead to a considerable improvement in the safety and efficiency of train operations.
