At an investment of about Rs 35,000 crore, Essar Oil plans to double the refining capacity of its Vadinar unit in Gujarat to 40 million tonne per annum in the next five years. The company reportedly has land and environment clearance for the project, but it has not given timeline for beginning work on the same as it is planning to consolidate its financial position before embarking on expansion. Besides the above project, the firm may also set up an integrated petrochemical unit at an investment of about Rs 40,000 crore.
