Flytta has commenced operations with its first fleet of retrofitted electric trucks and plans to deploy nearly 200 more in the coming months.
Sustainable logistics and cargo solutions company Flytta has unveiled India’s first retrofitted electric truck in the medium and heavy-duty segment, purpose-built for cement bag transportation across hill roads and industrial corridors. The 13-tonne payload EV has been custom-developed by Kalyani Powertrain Ltd (KPTL), the electric mobility arm of the Kalyani Group, and is being deployed by Dalmia Cement on the Yadwad-Goa route.
The first fleet has already commenced operations, with Flytta planning to roll out nearly 200 such trucks in the coming months. The company now offers a fully integrated electric vehicle (EV) trucking platform with payload capacities ranging from 13 to 40 tonnes across trucks, dumpers, and trailers for sectors including cement, steel, coal, metals, and minerals.
“This launch is a defining moment for Flytta and for the logistics sector,” said Rahul Kanuganti, CEO, Flytta. “Our vision is to build a green logistics backbone for India’s growth, and this is a major step toward that goal.”
Pankaj Sonalkar, Managing Director, KPTL, added, “We have engineered a rugged, high-performance retrofitted EV truck that can handle the heavy payloads and demanding conditions of the cement sector. This project demonstrates how advanced retrofitting can accelerate India’s transition to clean mobility.”
Srawan Agarwal, Assistant Executive Director of Logistics, Dalmia Cement, said, “The adoption of EVs in industrial logistics is crucial for reducing carbon emissions and advancing India’s energy self-sufficiency. For this transition to scale, we need stronger infrastructure—better road connectivity and more proactive government support for EV charging networks.”
The collaboration reinforces the role of retrofitted EVs in meeting decarbonisation targets without compromising operational efficiency.
