GAIL India has revived the much delayed Rs 7,596 crore Jagdishpur-Haldia gas pipeline gas pipeline project. It is learnt that the groundwork for the project, which was sanctioned in 2007, is yet to start. The project was sanctioned almost five years ago. However, first a glitch over gas availability led to delay in execution.
Later, the market of natural gas doomed. As a result, GAIL put this project on back burner. However, following the constant efforts of Bihar government, company management has now decided to revive the project, reports suggest.
It is learnt that of the 800 km pipeline, around 205 km would pass through Bihar. The commissioning of the project would help Bihar government in setting up new industries and power plants.
