Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) plans to add 46 million tonne (mn t) of capacity at the non-major ports in the state during 2013-14.

Once this is achieved, the total cargo handling in non-major ports of the state would rise to 412 Million Tonne Per Annum (mn tpa), reports indicate.

At present, the capacity of South Port terminal-III in Mundra is being expanded by 5.5 mn t by APSEZ, besides a coal jetty of 5 mn t capacity set up at Salaya by the Essar group.

At an investment of around Rs 1,000 crore, LNG Petronet is implementing a 2.5 mn t capacity LNG jetty project at Dahej port. The jetty is expected to be operational by first quarter of 2014.

Dahej terminal has 10 mn t capacity, and efforts are under way to have 15 mn t handling capacity there, reports indicate.

ABG group has completed construction work of a 4 mn t jetty at Akrimoti port in Kutch. Now landing place declaration has been initiated.

Ultratech Cements (UTCLs) jetty in Kovaya at Pipavav port is being expanded by 5 mn t. The dredging proposal has been received, construction may begin from next year.

A 5 mn t bulk general cargo terminal at Hazira has been set up and landing place declaration has been initiated.
