Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) is implementing a project to link three of the major industrial hubs in the state by establishing a ferry service between the port towns of Gogha which lies south of Bhavnagar on the western side of the Gulf to Dahej near Bharuch and Vadodara on the eastern side.

The Gulf of Cambay in Gujarat offers an excellent opportunity for a coastal water transport service connecting the western coastline of southern and central Gujarat to the eastern coast of Saurashtra by means of a RoRo Ferry service.

The board has already awarded the contract for the construction of two world class terminals with RoRo jetties and associated onshore facilities and the construction is moving apace. These are expected to be ready in the first half of 2013, and will provide berth accommodation as well as facilities for the loading and unloading of goods carrying trucks.
