The Ministry of Rural Development has released graÂnt in aid worth Rs 155.22 crore for construction of rural roads in Uttarakhand under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The sum is the part payment of first installment of Phase-VIII under PMGSY as grants in aid to the Uttarakhand Rural Roads Agency (Uttarakhand Rural Roads OSRRA). OSRRA is the ageÂncy executing the works taken up under PMGSY in the state.
PMGSY is a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country. PMGSY envisages connectivity to all habitations with a popÂulation of 500 persons and aboÂve in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in resÂpect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads.
