The Union government approved two highway extension projects in Rajasthan involving investments of Rs 713 crore with assistance from the World Bank. A press release from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that government has approved a proposal for rehabilitation and upgrading of two stretches of National Highways in Rajasthan under Phase I of National Highway Interconnectivity Improvement Projects (NHIIP) with World Bank loan assistance.
The statement said that the stretch from Lalsot to Karauli on NH-11B (87 km) will be improved at a cost of Rs 310 crore, whereas the stretch from Pratapgarh to Padi on NH-113 (97 km) will be improved at a cost of Rs 403 crore, it said.
Both the projects will be implemented by PWD Rajasthan as executing agency of the ministry. The projects are targeted to be completed by March, 2017. The stretches will be maintained by the same contractors on completion of construction for a further period of 5 years, the statement said.
