The Union government is soon to decide on the sale of Air IndiaÂ’s five Boeing 777-200 Long Range airplanes to Etihad Airways. The Union Cabinet was scheduled to hold a meeting on December 26 in this regard.
Air India could get anywhere between $300 million and $350 million through the sale. The deal was first announced in October with Etihad Airways indicating that it is looking at these airplanes as part of its strategy to continue international route expansion.
Etihad is to use the airplanes to start services between Abu Dhabi and West Coast of the United States.
