The Union government is to call global bids in the next two months for a dozen inter-state power transmission projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore. The government’s initiative is to connect power generation projects in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu states.
The projects have been approved by the standing committee on power system planning, however, a nod from the empowered committee on transmission is still awaited.
Companies such as Power Grid Corp of India, Sterlite Industries, L&T Infra, Power Grid Corp of India, Tata Projects, Kalptaru Power Transmission, UK-based Balfour Beatty Infra and Spain’s Isolux Corsan are expected to bid for the projects.
