Govt to revive EPC in road bidding

As per the Planning Commission's suggestion, the Union Roads Ministry is work­ing on reviving the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode of road bidding. The reworked EPC mode is to be announced within two to three months. In the new mode, pro­jects will be awarded out­right and of­ficial role will be reduced to the de­ciding spec­i­fi­cat­ions and quality. Ro­ad pro­jects may soon be aw­ar­ded in a true contract mo­del-lock, stock and barrel to the lowest bidders.
