During his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi demanded provision of natural gas to the state at the same rate as places like Delhi and Mumbai.
Both the Gujarat government and the central government are locked in a legal battle on allocation of natural gas. The state government alleges that the centre does not provide natural gas to the state at the price at which Delhi and Mumbai get it.
The chief minister submitted a memorandum to the prime minister in which he said that the state went to court and won the case. Despite this, the order was not implemented for six months and it filed a contempt petition, Modi said.
Instead of accepting this order, the government moved the Supreme Court to delay the process, said the Gujarat chief minister.
