The authorities have at last woken up to the grim fact that the Gurgaon streets, not to mention the landmarks, lack proper signage system. With hardly any signboards anywhere in Gurgaon, visitors and residents have a tough time in negotiating their way. This reality is likely to change soon with the district heads coming together and deciding to form a committee to fix a uniform signage format for all important roads and government buildings in the city.

The Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) will be heading the committee and officials from various departments in the city will be its members. Municipal Commissioner VS Dahiya has decided to have proper signage in place across the city.

At present, there are hardly any signboards, and even those that are installed in the city are not in an uniform. The committee, which will have members from each and every department in the city, including HUDA, the police and the MCG, will decide on how the final signage will look like, said a MCG official. Right now, there are three-four formats that MCG have and the committee will finalise one of them and make changes if needed, he added.
