Imports have not exactly been a roaring success, and the coal ministry is not entirely in favour of Coal India importing coal from abr­oad, and if at all necessary, lower price and good quality would be major para­meters for it. The Indonesia experience, wherein the quality of imported coal was not up to expectations, has triggered this watchfulness. Coal India has been scouting for mine acq­uisitions in the US, Australia and Indonesia.
