India is at the fourth position in the world in terms of installed wind power capacity, ahead of Spain, the UK, France and Canada. As on 31 October, 2016, solar energy projects with an aggregate capacity of over 8727.62 MW have been installed in the country. India´s total solar capacity is 10 GW and the government plans to take it to 17 GW by 31 March 2017.
