Registering a growth of 2.33 per cent, Indian
domestic airlines flew 51.37 lakh passengers in November this year, against 50.20 lakh passengers carried in the same period last year, says data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The data showed that IndiGo retained its position as the market leader with 28.6 per cent share, having carried 14.68 lakh passengers in November, followed by Air India, which had a market share of 19.3 per cent, having flown 9.89 lakh persons.
The government-owned Air India edged out SpiceJet for the second spot with the latter settling for a market share of 19 per cent, having flown 9.75 lakh passengers. The Jet Airways-JetLite combine had a market share of 24.1 per cent, but the two airlines report their passenger traffic data separately to the airline watchdog.
Jet Airways flew 9.52 lakh passengers, with a market share of 18.5 per cent, while JetLite carried 2.90 lakh passengers cornering a market share of 5.6 per cent.
