With this expansion, IndiGo becomes the only Indian carrier offering direct connectivity between Mumbai and one of Islam’s holiest cities, reinforcing its strategic position in the Indo-Saudi aviation corridor.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline by passenger volume and fleet size, is set to enhance connectivity to Saudi Arabia with the launch of daily, direct flights between Mumbai and Madinah starting November 15.
The new route, operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, will offer seamless access to one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant religious and cultural destinations, catering to growing demand from pilgrims, business travellers, and leisure passengers.
This marks IndiGo’s second connection to Madinah, complementing its existing Hyderabad-Madinah service, which will also be upgraded to daily frequency from 16 November. With this expansion, IndiGo becomes the only Indian carrier offering direct connectivity between Mumbai and one of Islam’s holiest cities, reinforcing its strategic position in the Indo-Saudi aviation corridor.
The announcement comes amid a surge in bilateral travel, driven by religious tourism, trade flows, and workforce movement. IndiGo already operates over 150 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia, connecting Indian cities to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Madinah.
“Madinah is a destination of deep cultural and spiritual significance that attracts pilgrims from across the globe, including India,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Sales, IndiGo. “We are pleased to launch this new Mumbai-Madinah route to meet the growing demand for religious tourism and further expand our international network.”
The new service will depart Mumbai at 22:05 hrs and arrive in Madinah at 01:10 hrs the following day. The return flight will leave Madinah at 21:50 hrs and reach Mumbai at 04:45 hrs the next morning. All timings are local and subject to regulatory approvals.
