App-to-app deep link eliminates QR scans to reinforce Indian tech’s digital travel transformation.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by passenger volume and fleet, has partnered with Digi Yatra to enable seamless sharing of boarding passes between their mobile applications, marking a significant step in India’s digital travel transformation.

The integration allows passengers to transfer their boarding pass directly from the IndiGo app to Digi Yatra with a single tap, eliminating the need to manually scan QR codes or upload documents.

The feature, now live, simplifies the check-in and boarding process for IndiGo flyers. Once web check-in is complete, users can select ‘Share with Digi Yatra’ within the IndiGo app. The transaction is executed offline via deep linking, with no server or cloud involvement, ensuring data privacy, regulatory compliance, and user consent at every stage.

“Our mission is to transform air travel into a seamless, secure, and paperless experience for every passenger,” said Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO, Digi Yatra Foundation. “This collaboration with IndiGo marks a milestone in that journey. As more airlines and airports adopt our ecosystem, we will continue to innovate and support India’s vision for digital transformation in travel.”

Neetan Chopra, Chief Information and Digital Officer, IndiGo, added, “This partnership with Digi Yatra takes our commitment to customer convenience a step further. We are proud to be among the first airlines to adopt this technology and remain focused on leveraging innovation to make air travel simpler, faster, and more enjoyable.”

Digi Yatra’s self-sovereign identity (SSI) ecosystem leverages face biometric technology to offer contactless, secure, and paperless passenger processing at airports. The platform is designed to embed privacy by design, maintaining the integrity and authenticity of boarding credentials while streamlining airport journeys.

The collaboration reflects growing confidence in Digi Yatra’s secure architecture and highlights the aviation sector’s shift toward biometric-enabled, frictionless travel experiences. As India’s airport infrastructure expands, such integrations are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation passenger journeys.
