Live demos of signalling, electrification, rolling stock and digital rail solutions reinforce Siemens’ 70-year partnership with Indian Railways

Siemens Ltd, the technology-led mobility solutions company, is showcasing its integrated portfolio of advanced rail technologies, infrastructure systems and digital innovations at the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025. Held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, IREE is Asia’s largest rail transportation event, and this year’s theme—‘Global Platform for Railway, Metro Technology & Services’—sets the stage for Siemens to demonstrate how its solutions are reshaping India’s rail landscape.

Under the banner ‘We Transform Mobility in India’, Siemens is presenting a live, immersive experience of its rail technologies, designed to support India’s goals of 100 per cent railway electrification, net-zero emissions, and enhanced passenger convenience. The showcase spans the entire rail value chain, from signalling and rolling stock to electrification, digital platforms and smart infrastructure.

Rajeev Joisar, CEO, Mobility Business, Siemens Ltd, said India is fast emerging as a global benchmark for rail transformation. “Our integrated portfolio—from signalling and electrification to rolling stock and digital services—enables operators to maximise network capacity, achieve 100 per cent system availability and deliver world-class passenger experiences.”

The Siemens booth at IREE 2025 features interactive demonstrations of its latest signaling technologies, including cloud interlocking DS3, WESTRACE electronic interlocking, communications-based train control (CBTC), axle counting systems, and cybersecurity-enabled platforms. The showcase also includes India’s indigenous Kavach automatic train protection system, reinforcing Siemens’ commitment to local innovation and safety.

Integrated Rail Innovations

A key highlight is Siemens’ 9000 HP electric locomotive, designed and manufactured under the Make in India initiative with approximately 90 per cent localisation. Visitors can explore its digital twin and driver assistance system, which enhances operational efficiency and safety.

In rail electrification, Siemens is presenting its Rigid Overhead Catenary System (ROCS), Static Frequency Converters (SFC), substations, SCADA systems and grid-integration solutions. These technologies are engineered to deliver reliable, energy-efficient electrification across India’s expanding rail network.

Siemens is also showcasing its digital rail solutions, including RailXplore asset performance monitoring for predictive maintenance, cybersecurity integration, and mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platforms that enable seamless multimodal travel. Complementing these are smart infrastructure offerings such as advanced building safety systems and intelligent switchgear, which ensure operational reliability and energy efficiency in rail operations.

With over 70 years of partnership with Indian Railways, Siemens continues to invest in local manufacturing and innovation, reinforcing its commitment to Make in India, for India and the world.
