The Jharkhand government is to spend Rs 2,297 crore for construction of roads in the state. The State Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given his assent to this proposal. With the sum, about 500 km length of five bypass roads will be constructed. The road projects will be funded by the Asian Development Bank, say media reports.

Dumka to Hasdiha, Giridih to Jamua via Chatru, Sahebganj via Taljhari to Tinpahar; Khunti to Tamar and Govindpur to Tundi are the five bypass roads to be built with the announced fund. The bypass roads which have been cleared fall under West Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Godda, Pakur, Khunti and Giridih districts of the state.

The Chief Minister said that the construction of roads bordering other states will not only facilitate (and) ease movement of people, but also give a fillip to trade and commerce.
