Khetri Copper Complex (KCC), which is part of Hindustan Copper, produced 10.00 lakh tonne of ore in 2011-12 compared to 9.72 lakh tonne in the previous year.

Hindustan Copper has taken steps to enhance the ore production of KCC mines from the current 10 lakh tonne to 31 lakh tonne with modern equipment and technology in the next five years at an estimated cost of Rs 533.00 crore.

This information was given by the Minister of Mines, Dinsha Patel in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.

It would be seen that the cost of production of KCC mines is the highest among all the operating mines of the company.

The cost of production has been adversely impacted due to falling ore grade, low process recovery of KCC concentrator plant, increase in wage owing to pay revision and increased input cost of power and fuel.
