In Kerala, the authorities of Public Works Department has been delaying the widening of the SN Junction-Puthiyakavu stretch on the Ernakulam-Kottayam State highway for more than 22 years. The PWD officials mooted the plan to widen the road in 1991. As per the proposal, it would develop the 12-metre wide road to 33 metre.

Meanwhile, Tripunithura Town Residents Association has come up against the apathy of the authorities towards the implementing the project which they term is ‘most important for the development of Tripunithura’.

The Associate has even threatened to file a petition in the State High Court against the apathy of the State authorities over the road work.
