Kerala Urban affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali informed a gathering that the state government is planning to bring around Rs 2,000 crore investment opportunities through a new initiative in the state.

He informed this after inaugurating a discussion on comprehensive development of Kozhikode. He also informed that the state government would showcase five urban development projects in the investors meet in Kochi on August 17.

The projects include Palayam bus stand-cum-shopping complex, Meenchanda bus terminal-cum-shopping complex, medical college bus terminal, musical fountain at Kuttichira and Tali beautification and Vengeri market renovation.

MK Raghavan, MP, stressed the need of preparing a master plan for the comprehensive development of the city and its surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, the Kozhikode Corporation plans to publish the draft of the master plan within two weeks. The civic body has also put forth the proposal of an international convention centre at Vengeri. The draft will ensure the comprehensive development of the city.

The civic body needs the approval of the state agriculture department for acquiring its land for the project.
