As soon as clearance is received from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Metro Railway plans to run 25 pairs of trains to and from the Noapara station in north Kolkata. Officials have already approached the CRS and urged him to carry out the mandatory inspection so services may start from the end of this month.

The opening of the 24th and largest Metro station in the city so far has already got delayed by over a month. Once Noapara gets operational, people living further north of Dum Dum Junction will be benefited. Situated 2.09 km from the metro’s existing Dum Dum station, Noapara has been constructed at a height of eight metre from the ground.

This will be the take off point for the proposed lines towards Airport-Barasat and Dakshineswar-Barrackpore. Kilometre long stretches on viaducts towards both ends have already been completed along with construction of the station.
