In Kerala, residents of Kannadichal in Kumarakom panchayat are expecting that they will be third-time lucky in the case of the completion of the approach road of a bridge, which was constructed almost 10 years ago. The previous two attempts by the district panchayat to construct an approach road to the bridge failed as the road caved in and now PWD roads division has taken up the task for the third time.

For the last 10 years, the completed bridge across the Kannadichal Narakathara canal without the approach roads had become the symbol of irresponsibility of the officials and the government. Shortage of mud to fill the approach road resulted in the delay this time.

The 35x 4m bridge was constructed by the local bodies. Since the plan for the construction was made around 15 years ago, the narrow bridge will be a hindrance once the road from Kannadichal Junction gets connected to Thiruvarppu via Kakkarayam in future.
