For the Rs 5,000 crore Surat Outer Ring Road project, land acquisition would begin by Diwali. Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) are ready with 11 draft TP schemes for development of the proposed 500 square metre of area on both sides of the road.
The total length of the Outer Ring Road project is 66 km. Only 29 km of road stretch would be constructed in the first phase of the project. A public meeting has been organised by SMC on three draft TP schemes on July 12.
SUDA will hold similar meetings on eight schemes that fall within its limits on July 16,17,18 and 19. People and owners of the properties will be explained about the schemes. Their objections if any on reservations and plots, etc would be accepted, said senior town planner SUDA PK Datta.
The schemes would be sent for approval to the State government after the mandatory 30 days for filing of objections are over. The authorities concerned can take free possession of land after the TP schemes’ approval. Land acquisition is expected to be over within three months after this.
SMC and SUDA have started the process to appoint a consultant for the project. A developer would get free space index (FSI) of 0.6 on the Outer Ring Road and he can further purchase FSI on payment at 40 per cent of jantri rate. Buildings up to 70 metre in height will come up on both sides of the roads and nearly 2 lakh sq metre of land will be developed on the outskirts of the city.
