To improve lane driving in Delhi, the State PWD will create ‘lane changing zones’ well before a flyover or a cut comes up on a road. This will be done by painting arrow signs on the lanes and putting up road signs well ahead to avoid last-minute cross-weaving of traffic.

This will be first implemented in 674 roads spanning 800 km which were handed over to PWD by the corporations last year. Tenders have already been awarded for most of these roads. One layer of coating has already been painted on many of them. Work has been suspended temporarily due to the cold weather, in which mastic coating can’t set properly.

The State PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said that the government is confident that it will finish the repair work before monsoon. The signs for lane changing will be based on international practices, he added.
