The construction of Luckno´s first ever underground Metro corridor from Charbagh to K D Singh Babu Stadium will begin from December this year, said E Sreedharan, Principal Advisor to LMRC (Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation).
The corridor will comprise three underground stations-Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazratganj. Also, the first metro rail comprising four coaches will arrive in the city for trial run by November 2016. Sreedharan said, once train arrives, its commissioning on track will take another one-two months.
Total 20 trains of four coaches will be ordered which will be supplied in phases. Currently, LMRC is evaluating bids received for procurement of trains (rolling stock). Three companies have applied for the tender-French firm, Alstom which has been leading supplier of Metro coaches in Chennai and Kochi Metro; Chinese railway firm, CSR Corporation Limited in alliance with Bombardier (for signalling) and the third is consortium of Rotem, BML and one of the experts in signalling systems, Ansaldo.
