L&T Construction’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business has bagged a contract worth $1.403 billion (Rs 8,250 crore) from Riyadh Development Authority for a metro project in Saudi Arabia. The scope of work involves design, construction and commissioning of Line 3, which will be a 41 km long Driverless Train Operation line. The contract includes construction of bridges, tunnels, elevated and underground stations, depots, roads, systems for CCTV and public announcements and SCADA with allied systems, among others. Stage 1 will span for eight months and will involve work related to detailed designing and for undertaking enabling works, coordination for utilities diversion and the site preparation works. The Stage 2 involves actual implementation of the project and will span for four years. The Stage 3 will involve system demonstration, trial runs and project handing over.
