In order to power the Pimpri- Swargate Metro rail corridor, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) will be building a 25.7 MW traction and sub-station (TSS) in Pimpri. The TSS will power the metro rail on the 12 km long Pimpri Swargate route and will be built on 8,600 sq m plot of land located along Indira Gandhi railway overbridge in Pimpri. Solar panels that will be installed at the stations will be used for lighting and other purposes.
