Asian World Summit, a leading business intelligence company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will assemble local and international policy makers and key players at the ‘Asian Infrastructure PPP Summit’.

With the theme, ‘Changing the deficits in urban infrastructure’, the summit is scheduled for 9th -12th March 2015 at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Planned for over the course of four days, the ‘Asian Infrastructure PPP Summit’ will kick start with a one-day pre-summit workshop on ‘Breaking the PPP code’ before moving on to the main summit. The event will wrap up with site visits on the last day to the famous Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T)’s MRT project.

Some of the key highlights of the Asian Infrastructure PPP Summit include: –

  • Reviewing innovative ways to finance infrastructure development

According to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Megat Najmuddin, the Chairman of Asian World Summit, the ‘Asian Infrastructure PPP Summit’ will provide a platform to line up the best practices in changing the deficits in urban infrastructure by bridging the gap through dynamic public-private partnership.

He explained, “The Asian Development Bank estimates that Asia needs at least USD800 billion a year or 6% of GDP in infrastructure spending to fund its infrastructure needs. This cannot be addressed by the public sector on its own. In addition, the situation is made far worse with sudden, unexpected expenditures such as recovery plans after a large scale natural disaster or a big drop in income for oil-dependent countries. Unexpected circumstances like these will undeniably prompt for further private sector involvement”.

“The summit can spark the exchange of ideas, expand network and possible collaboration as it will help to match the needs of the cities to build their infrastructure with the desires of the private sectors to be involved”, Najmuddin adds.
