The mechanisation of cargo handling facilities in the Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) would increase the cargo handling capacity of the port by additional 50 million tonne per annum, Ajeya Kallam, Chairman of the port, said. The port recently commissioned the Rs 444.1 crore mechanised coal handling facility of Vedanta Resources at VPT.
