In Mumbai, the Grant Road skywalk will be ready for public use within a month. This is the second-last skywalk nearing completion in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Work on Grant Road skywalk has entered final stages.

As per our plans, it should open for public use by June 15, said Subash Nage, chief engineer with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The skywalk has been delayed by three years as its original deadline was June 2009. Work had started in December 2008 but several hurdles, particularly due to unmapped utility, derailed the project. Built at an estimate cost of Rs 50.40 crore, the skywalk will be iconic due to its cable-stayed design.

The MSRDC had begun installing high tensile steel cables in mid-March. The main reason why this skywalk has such a design is the busy junction of Nana Chowk.
