To form a fencing with trees to the busiest 93 km Mumbai-Pune express highway, a Mumbai-based non-governmental organisation, Fulora Foundation is to plant 1.5 lakh trees. The objective of the tree planting is to form a fence to the highway, on which the number of accidents were rising in recent times, say media reports.

After observing the indifferent attitude of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) towards the construction of fencing and closing of open punctures, the Fulora Foundation has decided to plant the trees on the highway. Even the highway traffic police have failed to take strict action against trespassers on the expressway.

Fulora Foundation hopes that the trees planted by them will prevent two-wheelers and pedestrians from getting on to the expressway easily.
