The Indian unit of Vodafone Group is likely to award a Rs 1,340 crore contract to Finland’s Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) for upgrading its 2G and 3G networks, according to reports. The deal will involve supply of higher capacity base stations, switches and core network systems by NSN for both 2G and 3G platforms and ready the network to handle an expected surge in data traffic amid improved mobile broadband coverage and increasing smartphone penetration in India.
