NTPC remained optimistic of the super critical 1,320 MW Katwa thermal plant in West Bengal. According to its Chairman Arup Roychoudhury, NTPC was planning to add one more unit of 660 MW capacity to the existing project given the enthusiasm seen from farmers. NTPC was aiming for additional 300 acre of land of which some 200 acre would be acquired directly and rest 100 acre was expected to come from State government.
