NTPC will set up a 1,320 MW ultra-thermal power plant that will boast of a more eco-friendly facilities than the existing thermal power plants, outside Solapur in Maharashtra. The power plant will have super critical technology, whiÂch will help lower the emission of carbon dioxide from the plant. About 2,000 acre of land has been acquired within four moÂnths and the plant is expected to start functioning in three years. There will be two power generation units with 660 MW generation capacity each. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 10,000 crore. NTPC has floated global tender for sub-contracts.
