The first 660MW unit of NTPC´s Rs 14,300 crore North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Station(under construction) in Chatra district will be commissioned in February 2018 on schedule, NTPC said.
Addressing a press conference, NTPC GM Raghavendra Kumar Singh said two 660 MW units will be commissioned in August 2018 and February 2019, respectively.He said that the project is the first power station in the country near a coal mine with environment-friendly super critical technology.
The most significant feature of the plant is that this is the first project in India to have Ari Cooled Condenser (ACC) to reduce the water requirement by 80 per cent. This compares to the earlier conventional method to protect the environnment by least use of land and water.
