Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed that the state would focus on developing critical infrastructure mainly electricity, roads and water to ensure faster and balanced socio-economic development.
He said this after meeting Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to finalise the annual plan outlay for the state during 2013-14.
During the meeting, the Planning Commission approved a plan outlay of Rs 21,500 crore for the state during 2013-14, which is 24.6 per cent higher than the outlay in the previous fiscal. The state had asked for a plan outlay of Rs 21,467 crore for 2013-14.
At the meeting, Patnaik asked the central government to assist on issues like environmental clearances which can sometimes affect the pace of development of the state.
Ahluwalia asked Patnaik to encourage public private partnership (PPP) in both physical and social infrastructure development.
He said the Revised Long Term Action Plan for the KBK region, which ended in 2011-12, should be extended for another ten years with enhanced funding and the Perspective Plan should be approved as expeditiously as possible.
