Odisha government has submitted the Centre a project proposal of Rs 2112.72 crore and Rs 595.72 crore for construction of 4,227.69 km of road and 140 bridges respectively under the Pradhanmanthri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the current 2013-14 financial year.
At present, more than 2,000 roads sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Rural Development remain incomplete. Earlier, Odisha had submitted a proposal to the Centre for construction of 884 rural roads with a length of over 3,000 km under the phase-XIII of the Yojana.
Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh had advised the State government to include the two roads for development under PMGSY during his February 16 visit to Nuapada. The district is affected by the Left Wing Extremists.
