Odisha is planning to build one lakh houses for economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG) by 2022 under the policy of ‘Housing for All in Urban Areas’, according to Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo.
Speaking at a workshop on Affordable Housing and Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), Singhdeo stressed on the importance of transparency in real estate sector. The implementation of the RERA Act would bring discipline in the housing sector, he said.
“The rules in the Act will benefit all stakeholders and accelerate the real estate sector’s growth and increase its share in the state’s economy,” he said.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary H&UD Department G Mathivathanan said the regulations in the RERA Act are applicable to all commercial and residential real estate projects on a plot measuring 500 sq metres or more or comprising eight or more apartments.
