The Chinnewala Tibba block, a discovered small field under the Rajasthan Kutch Onland Exploratory Asset, spans 73 sq km near the Indo-Pak border and marks a strategic addition to ONGC’s production portfolio.

India’s largest oil and gas explorer, Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC), has commenced natural gas sales from its Chinnewala Tibba field in western Rajasthan, marking a key milestone in the monetisation of the discovered small field (DSF).

The block forms part of the Rajasthan Kutch Onland Exploratory Asset and spans 73 sq km near the Indo-Pak border.

ONGC commenced gas evacuation to the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL)’s Ramgarh power plant via its Gamnewala Gas Collection Station on August 25. The field is currently supplying 100,000 standard cubic metres of gas per day.

The project was executed in close coordination with the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, GAIL, Oil India Ltd and RRVUNL, ensuring seamless integration into the state’s power infrastructure.

Senior ONGC officials, including Arunangshu Sarkar, Director for Strategy & Corporate Affairs, and Om Prakash Sinha, Director for Exploration, attended the inauguration ceremony. The leadership team reiterated the strategic importance of Chinnewala Tibba in ONGC’s broader DSF monetisation efforts and its alignment with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas’s vision for domestic energy expansion.
