ONGC has decided to develop the gas-rich exploration block in the Krishna Godavari basin by itself. It was in talks with foreign players to develop the block. ONGC was hoping to finalise a partner by the end of January but it appears that it may have to go solo. The development of the block off the east coast could cost up to $5 billion, as per current estimates.
