A total of Rs 116.685 crore was sanctioned for various road works carried out along the National Highway 61, during the year 2013-14. This was disclosed by the Chief Engineer for Nagaland PWD (NH), in response to an RTI filed by ST Yapang Lkr, from Kohima.
The amount, as per the Chief Engineer´s response made available to the media, was sanctioned for various road works over 88 km of the NH 61. The works included improvement of riding quality, periodical repairs and road strengthening.
The response to the RTI, dated December 15, 2014, further revealed that the amount was sanctioned for nine separate roadwork projects, of which three have been completed and the rest are ongoing. It further stated that no separate amount for repairing is sanctioned for the road works enclosed, but the stretches will be maintained till the defect liability is over by the concerned contractor.
