Mayor of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Surendra Furtado has written to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) demanding details of the proposed bridge between Panaji and Betim. In a letter to GSIDC Managing Director Sanjit Rodrigues, Furtado has sought all details including traffic plans if any worked out since the ferry wharf area is very crowded.

The Mayor said that the CCP needs the details since it is a part of the holistic plan for Panaji prepared by LKS Private Limited on behalf of GSIDC. Furtado has also asked the GSIDC to stop work at the captain of ports jetty, stating that the CCP commissioner will soon issue a stop work order to the GSIDC.

The new jetty at the captain of ports premises, where a helipad is planned, and the construction underway through the GSIDC is being done without an NOC from the CCP. No plans have been approved by the CCP and neither the CCP nor the citizens of Panaji are aware of what project is going on there and for whose benefits, since the steamer services have been stopped years back, Furtado wrote.
