Paradip Port Trust is implementing several projects to raise its capacity from the existing 102 million metric tonne per annum (mn tpa) to 252.50 mn tpa by the year ending 2020.
The company increased the draft at central quay 1, coal berth 1 & 2 and oil jetty to 14-metre draft through dredging to accommodate fully loaded Panamax vessels of 80,000-90,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) size. The port has also initiated proposals to dredge another five berths to 14-metre draft to handle Panamax vessels.
Meanwhile, the port invited expression of interest from experts for preparing a vision document for the port for the next 10 years.
