Avaada’s ₹92 billion investment marks a major milestone in grid-integrated clean energy, with 2500 MWh battery storage and 1560 MWp solar capacity powering Rajasthan’s green transition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for Avaada Group’s landmark solar-plus-storage project in Rajasthan, billed as India’s largest to date. The ₹92 billion investment spans two major developments: a 1560 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar installation paired with a 2500 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at Pugal, and a 282 MWp (200 MW) solar power project at Shri Dungargarh.

The Shri Dungargarh solar plant, spread across 777 acres in Bikaner, will supply clean power to Rajasthan’s discoms. It is powered by Avaada Electro’s approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM)-certified TOPCon N-Type bifacial solar PV modules.

The Pugal project, covering 4,000 acres, is designed to deliver solar power beyond daylight hours through integrated battery storage. Once operational, it will enhance grid reliability and provide firm green power. The BESS will deploy state-of-the-art technology, also supported by Avaada Electro’s ALMM-certified bifacial modules.

Together, the two projects are expected to generate over 1,600 green jobs in Rajasthan. They will help avoid more than 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually and conserve approximately 6 billion litres of water through robotic cleaning systems.

“This project, the largest BESS in India till date, will deliver round-the-clock green power, enhance grid resilience, and set new benchmarks for the nation’s energy security,” said Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma added, “I am delighted to see the MoU signed during Rising Rajasthan being converted into an operational project in less than a year. Many more projects of Avaada Group are moving into construction.”

“These projects are more than investments in megawatts—they are investments in India’s green future,” said Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group. “Rajasthan is the beating heart of Avaada’s journey, and we are committed to empowering communities, creating livelihoods, and shaping a sustainable, self-reliant nation.”

Avaada has already commissioned 2.2 gigawatts (GW) of renewable capacity in Rajasthan. Its operational portfolio stands at approximately 5.7 GWp across India.
