The Prime Minister´s Office (PMO) has asked the road transport and highways ministry to look into the option of setting up a high-powered committee to resolve di¡sputes between private players and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The total amount caught in disputes between NHAI and private players is over Rs.10,000 crore and is likely to increase further in the near future.
Sources said the panel, to be headed by a retired judge, can look into the cases and can even suggest solutions going beyond the contract conditions. As of now there is a dispute resolution board (DRB) in the NHAI, which has representation from the highways authority and the private players as well.
